About
Mary O’Connor is a Professor at UBC in the Department of Zoology and currently Director of the Biodiversity Research Centre. In her research, she develops new models and understanding for how ecological systems change with climate change and biodiversity change. She leads a research team that uses mathematical theory, experiments, field surveys and community partnerships to deepen our ecological understanding. Major projects include biodiversity change over time, seagrass ecosystem restoration and recovery in BC and Quebec, and how temperature affects food webs via metabolic scaling responses.
