Kayla King is a Professor in the Departments of Zoology and Microbiology & Immunology at the University of British Columbia, and she is also a Professorial Fellow at Oxford University. Her group investigates the contemporary evolution of host-pathogen interactions in the lab using experimental evolution of animal-pathogen systems, comparative analyses, and hypothesis-driven pathogen surveillance in wild animals. She is interested in the effects of a warming climate and biodiversity loss on pathogen virulence and animal health during infection. Her research also explores the patterns and processes of pathogen evolution in animal species following host jumps.
