Claire Kremen is a Professor and President’s Excellence Chair In Biodiversity at UBC in the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability and the Department of Zoology. She is an ecologist and applied conservation biologist working on how to reconcile agricultural land use with biodiversity conservation. She uses field, lab and modeling studies to study biodiversity conservation across a range of habitats, including agricultural land and tropical rainforests. For decades, her work has focused on developing and building interdisciplinary solutions to address challenges in biodiversity.
