About
Amy Angert is a Professor at UBC in the Department of Zoology and the Department of Botany. Her research focuses on the evolutionary ecology of species’ geographic distributions. Her lab asks these questions: What limits adaptation at the edges of species’ ranges? How are ranges shifting in response to anthropogenic climatic change? When is rapid evolution likely to forestall range contraction or facilitate range expansion? How can this information guide conservation and management of rare or restored populations? Her research combines experimental manipulations in the field and in the lab and observations of natural populations with tools from quantitative genetics and physiological ecology.
