CCL Eligibility and Support

Funding and Support

CCL fellowships provide supplemental funding to support student participation:

  • MSc fellows: $7,500 per year (2 years)*
  • PhD fellows: $15,000 per year (2 years)*

* Fellowship funding continuation from year 1 to year 2 will be dependent upon the student’s participation and progress made in fulfilling CCL’s requirements.

Students will also receive a one-time travel fund (for travel to research sites or to work with partners):

  • MSc Fellows: $750
  • PhD Fellows: $1500

Student Eligibility

To be eligible, students should be working or planning a conservation related topic with the potential to engage a non-academic partner on a component of their thesis research. Students may be in the first or second year of a Masters or the first through fourth year of doctoral studies (i.e. pre or post candidacy).

Who Should Apply

CCL encourages applications from graduate students who:

  • Are working (or plan to work) on conservation related research with a non-academic partner*
  • Are interested in partner engaged, applied research
  • Value collaboration, inclusion, and ethical engagement
  • Bring diverse academic backgrounds, lived experiences, and ways of knowing

* CCL does not facilitate the internship with partners. It is the responsibility of students and their supervisor(s) to identify and engage with partners.

Students from historically, persistently, or systemically marginalized groups are strongly encouraged to apply

If you are not sure about whether you are eligible, please contact our program manager, Conny Scheffler to discuss your situation.
