Speaker(s): Dr. Tahia Devisscher
12-1 pm in the AERL Building, Room 107 (2202 Main Mall).
Dr. Tahia Devisscher, an assistant professor in the Faculty of Forestry, focuses on managing forests and other greenspaces in and around cities to support human well-being and build social-ecological resilience to climate change. Dr. Devisscher is also interested in developing practical strategies to address the increasing disconnect between people and nature caused by rapid urbanization. Her team’s research aims to inform nature recovery and nature-positive initiatives that foster clear synergies between climate resilience, biodiversity restoration, and human well-being in healthier urban and peri-urban landscapes.
Tahia will be sharing her trajectory, the interdisciplinary studies she embarked on, her experience working with different programs of the United Nations and international think tanks. Tahia has worked in more than 20 countries, and she will take you on a journey with stories from the field and her current position at UBC.
Join us as we learn about her journey and connect with this inspiring faculty member. Plus, enjoy some free lunch!
